Picanol switches from manual deburring to an intelligent grinding cell

Picanol is a Belgian company that develops advanced weaving machines for various textile applications and operates worldwide. It is known for its innovative technologies and strong focus on quality, reliability and efficiency.

Picanol has replaced the manual deburring process with a grinding cell from Cibo Robotics and CNC Solutions. This cell is serviced by two CNC machines and can alternately deburr two different componetns. With a single press of the foot pedal, the robot automatically reconfigures itself.

Co-creation

The programming of our grinding cells is similar to that of a CNC machine. As a result, the learning curve is short and programming is fast.

Thanks to this automation, the customer benefits from:

– High working comfort for the operators: the heavy and demanding is carried out by the robot

– Process continuity and efficiency; rework and scrap are a thing of the past.

This case is a strong example of co-creation. Together with the customer, we developed a robotic grinding cell that excels in ease of use and delivers a high-performance process.
