IGW optimises production through an automated deburring process

IGW, a market leader in gear and drive systems and part of the BMT Group, is globally recognised for its high-quality solutions for demanding industries such as rail, compressors and engines.

To further optimise its production and guarantee a consistent output, IGW chose to automate the deburring process in collaboration with Cibo Robotics and CNC Solutions.

By focusing on automation and innovation, IGW strengthens its position as a reliable partner for high-quality drive systems and prismatic parts in various industries.
Consistent finishing quality
The implemented robotic grinding cell is fully integrated with a multi-axis milling machine. Deformations detected during the milling process are automatically transmitted, allowing the robot to adjust the finishing without any manual intervention. This ensures high and consistent finishing quality, workpiece after workpiece, while minimising scrap.

Thanks to this automation, IGW benefits from:
- 24/7 production continuity and increased output
- Higher quality than manual sanding, with minimal variation
- Embedding grinding expertise in the programming, ensuring process certainty
- Lower operational costs due to efficient use of resources
- A safe and ergonomic working environment for operators
